Feb 23, 2007 - Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has been voted the winner of Celebrity Big Brother and Jermaine Jackson came in second place.

Shilpa Shetty, who had recently been the victim of what had been described as racist bullying by Jade Goody, described her time in the Big Brother house as “incredible and overwhelming,” and she burst into tears when she heard she had won.

Shilpa Shetty will be earning a lof of money from the publicity following her win on the last night of Celebrity Big Brother, after she hired the services of the well-known publicist Max Clifford.

Bollywood star and Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty has added another feather in her already glittering and glowing cap of fame in the UK. Shilpa has reportedly been offered a lead role in the West End musical Chicago but the Bollywood actress is yet to take a decision on the matter, her spokesman said today.

Producers of the show have been holding talks with Shilpa's representatives over a deal for her to play the murderous Roxie Hart, played in recent years by Ashlee Simpson, Denise van Outen and Claire Sweeney. They are desperate to engage Shilpa despite the fact that singing is not her forte.

Shilpa has been simultaneously having singing lessons with lead singer-song-writer Jamie Peace, a finalist in the prestigious International Songwriting Competition in the United States for his track 'More Than Enough'.

Shilpa, who was in London to participate in a Zee Carnival at Olympia, left for Mumbai Wednesday night and would return here on March 11 to attend the Commonwealth Day. Shilpa is also likely to be a guest of honour at the Princess Diana memorial concert this summer. Shilpa will join big names such as Elton John at the star-studded show at Wembley, the Daily Star, a tabloid, claimed.

Shilpa has apparently been invited to the July 1 concert because Prince William and Harry were impressed with the way she handled herself on the scandal-packed reality TV show.  

Feb 26, 2007 - HYDERABAD, Pakistan - A teenage girl in southern Pakistan, whose late father lost her in a poker game when she was 2 years old, has asked authorities to save her from being handed over to a middle-aged relative.

 Rasheeda, 17, said she has filed applications with the police and a local councillor asking them to prevent Lal Haider, 45, from taking her to his home. Her mother, Nooran said her husband racked up a debt of 10,000 rupees ($151) to Haider playing cards.

While families live in Hyderabad, a city 160 km (100 miles) north of the southern city of Karachi, they belong to the same tribe in Baluchistan province. The girl's uncle, Dur Mohammad said Haider apparently wanted to marry the girl to his son.

A local councillor said the decision that Rasheeda should be handed over to Haider was taken late last week at a tribal council meeting.

Police says they will ensure the girl does not have to do anything against her will.
