7月28日 Former Monterey naval school administrator indicted for bigamy!<In case you want to add comments, visit additional space for this blog > Jul. 24, 2005 - A former program administrator at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey has been indicted by a Virginia grand jury on a felony charge of bigamy and faces trial Sept. 13. The Fairfax County Grand Jury handed down the indictment against Charles Edward "Ed" Hicks on Monday, and Hicks and his attorney, Richard Simpson of Alexandria, Va., appeared in Fairfax County Circuit Court on Tuesday to set the trial date. Bigamy in Virginia is categorized as a Class Four felony, punishable by a prison term of two to 10 years. Hicks, 61, now of Alexandria, Va., worked at the Naval Postgraduate School from 1995 to 2000 with its Defense Acquisition University, first as a staff director, then as site manager. He is accused of multiple marriages involving five of seven women at one time or other during the past 40 years. Two of the women have filed criminal complaints. The Virginia charge was reported to authorities by Sandra Hicks of Alexandria, who said she was married to Ed Hicks for nearly two years before discovering in April that he was still legally married to another woman, Julie Flint Hicks, a former Marina resident who now lives in Utah. Court records show a series of marriages involving Hicks and seven women going back to 1965. They show Julie and Ed Hicks were married in Hollister in 1997 while he was still married to fifth wife Rose Marie Sewell. Julie Hicks said she is seeking an annulment of that marriage. Sewell's predecessor, Johnette Erlandson, was married to Ed Hicks in July 1986, five and a half months before he divorced his third wife, Monica Marschall, according to court records.
